Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it
Effective 2026-08-21
Who is responsible
PlayOnRadio Inc, British Columbia, Canada, operates https://www.playonradio.com and decides how the information described here is used. For anything in this policy, write to support@playonradio.com.
When you request a licence
The form at Request a Licence asks for your name, email address, phone number, street address, city, postal code and country, and optionally your company or station name and any notes you add. You also choose a licence term and a preferred payment method.
We use it for one thing: to prepare and send you a quote, and to deal with the licence if you go ahead. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not sell or share it with anyone for their own purposes.
Your request is emailed to support@playonradio.com and written to a log file on the server, outside the public web directory, where it can be read only by us. We keep those records for three years, after which they are deleted.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful — how many visitors a page gets, which country they are in, roughly how long they stay. It is not connected to any advertising product.
Analytics runs only if you accept it. Until you choose, no
analytics cookie is set. If you accept, Google Analytics stores two cookies,
_ga and _ga_<id>, which distinguish one browser
from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. If you decline,
no analytics cookie is stored, and any that already exist are deleted.
You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. Your choice itself is remembered in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and never leaves your device.
Other services this site uses
Pages load their typeface from Google Fonts. That request goes to Google's servers and, like any web request, includes your IP address. It happens on every page and is not covered by the cookie choice above, because it is part of how the page is drawn rather than something that tracks you.
The site and its email are hosted by Hostinger, which stores the data described above on our behalf and keeps standard server access logs.
Google processes analytics data for us when you have accepted analytics, as described above.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, what we have used it for, and who we have given it to, and you can ask for a copy of it. Write to support@playonradio.com. We will answer within 30 days. There is normally no charge, and if there ever were one we would tell you what it was before doing the work, so you could decide.
If anything we hold about you is wrong or incomplete, tell us and we will correct it. If we do not agree that a correction is needed, we will record what you told us alongside the information, and pass that on to anyone we have shared it with.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to any legal or contractual obligations we still have. Before we act on it we will explain what withdrawing would mean — for a licence in progress, for example, it may mean we can no longer support it.
If you asked us for a quote and no longer want us to hold the details, say so and we will delete them — we do not need them once a quote has been declined or a licence has run its course.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first at support@playonradio.com — the same address reaches the person accountable for privacy here. If we do not resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which oversees the federal privacy law we operate under, and, if you are in British Columbia, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
If you are outside Canada, the data protection law where you live may give you further rights than the ones described here — including, in the European Union and countries with similar law, rights to erasure and to receive your data in a portable form. You can also complain to the authority in your own country.
If your information is ever exposed
If personal information we hold is lost, stolen, or reaches someone who should not have it, we work out how sensitive that information is and how likely it is to be misused.
Where that points to a real risk of significant harm to you — identity theft, fraud, financial loss, damage to your reputation or your relationships — we will tell you as soon as we can, and report the breach to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We will tell you what happened, which of your details were involved, and what you can do to protect yourself. Where someone else is in a position to reduce the risk to you, we will tell them as well.
We keep a record of every such incident for at least 24 months, whether or not it was serious enough to require telling you, and we give those records to the Commissioner if asked for them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. We do not apply changes retroactively to information already collected.
