Every station has a set of sounds it needs instantly: the station ID, the news bed, the caller sounder. Twenty-five configurable buttons cover that comfortably.
Setting them up
Click a button to assign an audio file — MP3, WAV, WMA, including multichannel WAV. Right-click to rename it.
Labels support two lines: the number or custom text on top, a name or description underneath. Single-line labels centre; two-line labels get equal row heights with no gap. Small typography decisions, but this is a grid an operator scans under pressure.
Playing them
Click to play instantly. Click again while playing to stop.
Music ducks to 50% automatically while a jingle plays and restores when it finishes. Without this an operator would ride the music fader manually every single time — which under pressure means either forgetting, or riding it badly.
Jingles play through a separate audio service, so firing one never disturbs the main playout path. Multichannel WAV files are downmixed to stereo automatically rather than failing or playing only the front pair.
Getting them into the log
Right-click → Add to Playlist inserts a jingle after the selected or currently playing song, so a sounder can be placed in the running order rather than fired live.
When that happens the track is flagged as a jingle in two places at once — both the jingle flag and the track type — so transition policy classifies it consistently as imaging. It fades music underneath it and hard-cuts when it ends, exactly as a manually fired jingle would.
Reaching them without the mouse
Jingles 1 to 10 map to the numpad, configurable in preferences. An operator running a live show is already using both hands; a keyboard shortcut is faster than finding a button.
Buttons can also fire automatically at scheduled intervals, and a clock wheel slot can trigger a jingle by number at a fixed minute of the hour.
Text that stays readable
Jingle text size is configurable and scales as the window resizes, with custom sizes preserved when you reconfigure, rename or clear a button. Font family and colour are configurable too. A studio screen might be a 24-inch monitor at arm's length or a small panel across the room.
